The bill would add Section 521.168 to Chapter 521 of the Transportation Code directing the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to pay the fees associated with obtaining a driver's license, including educational course requirements, for foster children or youth, former foster children or youth, and youth experiencing homelessness. This analysis assumes there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill that could be absorbed within current resources at TWC.The Department of Public Safety, Department of Licensing and Regulation, and Department of Family and Protective Services indicate no fiscal impact with implementing the provisions of the bill. Local Government ImpactNo significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
