59 relating to leave for state employees who are volunteers of certain
610 disaster relief organizations.
711 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
812 SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 661, Government Code, is
913 amended by adding Section 661.9075 to read as follows:
1014 Sec. 661.9075. VOLUNTEERS OF TEXAS VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS
1115 ACTIVE IN DISASTER. (a) A state employee who is a volunteer of an
1216 organization that is a member of the Texas Voluntary Organizations
1317 Active in Disaster may be granted leave to participate in disaster
1418 relief services without a deduction in salary or loss of vacation
1519 time, sick leave, earned overtime credit, or state compensatory
1620 time if:
1721 (1) the employee's supervisor authorizes the leave;
1822 (2) the services in which the employee participates
1923 are provided for a state of disaster declared by the governor under
2024 Chapter 418; and
2125 (3) the executive director of the employee's state
2226 agency approves the leave.
2327 (b) Leave granted to a state employee under Subsection (a)
2428 may not exceed 10 days each fiscal year.
2529 SECTION 2. Section 661.907, Government Code, is repealed.
2630 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
