A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to designating December 8 as Special Hearts Day.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows:
Sec. 662.085. SPECIAL HEARTS DAY. (a) December 8 is
Special Hearts Day in recognition and celebration of the attributes
of individuals with disabilities to build a more inclusive
community in which people are defined by their abilities rather
than their disabilities.
(b) Special Hearts Day shall be regularly observed by
appropriate ceremonies and activities.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
