44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to the duration of a special open hunting season for game
77 animals and certain game birds taken by persons under 17 years of
88 age.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as the Colton Burgin
1111 Extension Act.
1212 SECTION 2. Section 61.058, Parks and Wildlife Code, is
1313 amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1414 (d) The commission may not provide for a special open season
1515 under this section with a duration of less than seven consecutive
1616 days. This subsection does not apply to a special open season the
1717 commission provides for under this section for migratory game birds
1818 or waterfowl.
1919 SECTION 3. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2020 of this Act, the Parks and Wildlife Commission shall adopt or amend
2121 rules as necessary to comply with the changes in law made by this
2222 Act.
2323 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
