| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as the Colton Burgin |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Extension Act. |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 2. Section 61.058, Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (d) The commission may not provide for a special open season |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | under this section with a duration of less than seven consecutive |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | days. This subsection does not apply to a special open season the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | commission provides for under this section for migratory game birds |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | or waterfowl. |

| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 3. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of this Act, the Parks and Wildlife Commission shall adopt or amend |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | rules as necessary to comply with the changes in law made by this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Act. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
