| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Alejandro G. Meade III of Mission was appointed to |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the Texas Transportation Commission on March 21, 2023, for a term |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | set to expire on February 1, 2025; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Governing the Texas Department of Transportation, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the Texas Transportation Commission adopts operational rules for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the department, establishes policies regarding the state highway |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | system, and helps to advance public transportation in the state; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the commission is also responsible for developing a statewide |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | transportation plan; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Alex Meade is a certified public manager and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | economic development finance professional, and he currently serves |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | as executive vice president of Texas Regional Bank; he previously |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | led the Mission Economic Development Corporation as its chief |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | executive officer and served as the city manager in Pharr; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Meade holds a bachelor's degree in economics |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | from St. Edward's University, a master's degree in business |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | administration from The University of Texas at Brownsville, and a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | master's degree in public administration from UT Pan American; he |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | also participated in the Texas Lyceum, and he has served on the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | boards of the Border Trade Alliance, the Texas State Technical |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | College System, and the Texas Economic Development Corporation; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Alex Meade has upheld the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | highest standards of his profession, and he will bring to his new |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | duties on the Texas Transportation Commission equal commitment and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | energy; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Alejandro G. Meade III on his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | appointment to the Texas Transportation Commission and extend to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | him sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further |
