55 relating to the processing of United States passport applications

77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Sections 51.3031(a) and (b), Government Code,
99 are amended to read as follows:
1010 (a) A district clerk may perform all duties necessary to
1111 process an application for a United States passport, including
1212 taking passport photographs and selling money orders to applicants
1313 for payment purposes.
1414 (b) To recover the costs of taking passport photographs and
1515 selling money orders, a district clerk may collect [a] reasonable
1616 fees for the provided services [fee] in amounts [an amount] set by
1717 the commissioners court of the county in which the district clerk's
1818 office is located.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
