| 7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Chapter 21, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 9 | 9 | adding Section 21.013 to read as follows: | |
| 10 | 10 | Sec. 21.013. PUBLICATION OF OPINIONS. The authorship of an | |
| 11 | 11 | opinion published by a court is public information. A court shall | |
| 12 | 12 | list the author or authors of any opinion published by the court. | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 14 | 14 | to an opinion published by a court on or after the effective date of | |
| 15 | 15 | this Act. A court opinion published before the effective date of | |
| 16 | 16 | this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the opinion was | |
| 17 | 17 | published, and the former law is continued in effect for that | |
| 18 | 18 | purpose. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
