116 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
127 AN ACT
138 relating to the designation of a portion of State Highway 34 in
149 Kaufman County as the Officer Jacob Candanoza Memorial Highway.
1510 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1611 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
1712 is amended by adding Section 225.249 to read as follows:
1813 Sec. 225.249. OFFICER JACOB CANDANOZA MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.
1914 (a) The portion of State Highway 34 in Kaufman County between its
2015 intersection with Kings Creek Drive and its intersection with North
2116 Frances Street is designated as the Officer Jacob Candanoza
2217 Memorial Highway. The designation is in addition to any other
2318 designation.
2419 (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
2520 (1) design and construct markers indicating the
2621 designation as the Officer Jacob Candanoza Memorial Highway and any
2722 other appropriate information; and
2823 (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
2924 appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
3025 SECTION 2. It is the intention of the 89th Legislature,
3126 Regular Session, 2025, that the provisions added by this Act be
3227 renumbered to prevent multiple provisions with the same
3328 designation.
3429 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
