| 11 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 53.001(a), Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | (a) The judges of the 30th, 70th, 71st, 78th, 89th, and |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | 161st [, and 341st] district courts, the judges of the district |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | courts having jurisdiction in Taylor County, the judges of the |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | county courts at law of Taylor County, and the judge of the County |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | Court of Harrison County shall each appoint a bailiff. |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | SECTION 2. Sections 53.001(i) and 53.009(d), Government |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | Code, are repealed. |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act do not apply |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | to a bailiff appointed by the judge of the 341st or 406th district |
|---|
| 23 | 25 | | court before the effective date of this Act. A bailiff appointed by |
|---|
| 24 | 26 | | the judge of the 341st or 406th district court shall continue to |
|---|
| 25 | 27 | | serve and receive compensation from Webb County in the same manner |
|---|
| 26 | 28 | | as before the effective date of this Act and shall be eligible to |
|---|
| 27 | 29 | | receive any longevity or cost of living salary increases available |
|---|
| 28 | 30 | | to a bailiff serving in Webb County before the effective date of |
|---|
| 29 | 31 | | this Act. The former law is continued in effect for the purposes of |
|---|
| 30 | 32 | | this section. |
|---|
| 31 | 33 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
