16	5		To amend title 31, United States Code, to authorize trans-
17	6		portation for Government astronauts returning from
18	7		space between their residence and various locations, and
19	8		for other purposes.
20	9		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
21		-	tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
22		-	SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
23		-	This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Astronaut Safe Tem-4
24		-	porary Ride Options Act’’ or the ‘‘ASTRO Act’’. 5

	14	+	porary Ride Options Act’’ or the ‘‘ASTRO Act’’. 3
	15	+	SEC. 2. TRANSPORTATION OF ASTRONAUTS RETURNING 4

31		-	NGENERAL.—Section 1344(a)(2) of title 31, 3
32		-	United States Code, is amended— 4
33		-	(1) in subparagraph (A), by striking ‘‘or’’ at 5
34		-	the end; 6
35		-	(2) in subparagraph (B), by inserting ‘‘or’’ 7
36		-	after the comma at the end; and 8
37		-	(3) by inserting before the matter following 9
38		-	subparagraph (B) the following: 10
39		-	‘‘(C) necessary for post-flight transportation of 11
40		-	Government astronauts, and others subject to reim-12
41		-	bursable arrangements, returning from space for the 13
42		-	performance of medical research, monitoring, diag-14
43		-	nosis, or treatment, or other official duties, prior to 15
44		-	receiving post-flight medical clearance to operate a 16
45		-	motor vehicle,’’. 17

50		-	after the date of enactment of this Act and annually 20
51		-	thereafter, the Administrator of the National Aero-21
52		-	nautics and Space Administration shall submit an 22
53		-	annual report to Congress on the use of the author-23
54		-	ity providing transportation under subparagraph (C) 24
55		-	of section 1344(a)(2) of title 31, United States Code 25
56		-	(as added by subsection (a) of this Act). 26

61		-	the name of any individual who received such trans-2
62		-	portation, the number of instances such transpor-3
63		-	tation was provided, and the total cost of such trans-4
