99 AN ACT relating to: healthy aging grants and making an appropriation.

1111 This bill directs the Department of Health Services to allocate as a grant
1212 $378,000 in each fiscal year of the 2023-25 fiscal biennium to a private, nonprofit
1313 entity that conducts certain activities related to healthy aging, including
1414 coordinating the implementation of evidence-based health promotion programs to
1515 support healthy aging; serving as a statewide clearinghouse on evidence-based falls
1616 injury, disease prevention, self-management, and health promotion programs;
1717 providing training and technical assistance to the staff of county departments,
1818 administering agencies, and other providers of services to aging populations; and
1919 collecting and disseminating information on falls injury, disease prevention, and
2020 health promotion in healthy aging populations.

2222 an appendix to this bill.
2323 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2424 enact as follows:
2525 SECTION 1.0Nonstatutory provisions.
2626 (1) HEALTHY AGING GRANT. From the appropriation under s. 20.435 (1) (a), the
2727 department of health services shall allocate as a grant $378,000 in each fiscal year

3434 of the 2023-25 fiscal biennium to a private, nonprofit entity that conducts all of the
3535 following activities:
3636 (a) Implementing and coordinating efforts to reduce older adult falls through
3737 the Falls Free Wisconsin initiative to raise awareness of falls prevention strategies,
3838 provide tools and resources to reduce falls, and support local falls prevention
3939 initiatives with a focus on partnerships between aging services, public safety
4040 services, and health care providers to reduce the burden and costs.
4141 (b) Coordinating the implementation of evidence-based health promotion
4242 programs to support healthy aging.
4343 (c) Serving as a statewide clearinghouse on evidence-based falls injury, disease
4444 prevention, self-management, and health promotion programs.
4545 (d) Providing training and technical assistance to the staff of county
4646 departments, administering agencies, and other providers of services to aging
4747 populations.
4848 (e) Collecting and disseminating information on falls injury, disease
4949 prevention, and health promotion in healthy aging populations.
5050 (f) Coordinating public awareness activities related to falls injury, disease
5151 prevention, and health promotion in aging populations.
5252 (g) Advising the department of health services on public policy issues
5353 concerning falls injury, disease prevention, and health promotion in aging.
5454 SECTION 2.0Fiscal changes.
5555 (1) HEALTHY AGING GRANT. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the
5656 appropriation to the department of health services under s. 20.435 (1) (a), the dollar
5757 amount for fiscal year 2023-24 is increased by $378,000 and the dollar amount for

8686 fiscal year 2024-25 is increased by $378,000 to award the grants under SECTION 1 (1)

8888 SECTION 3.0Effective date.
8989 (1) This act takes effect on the day after publication, or on the 2nd day after
9090 publication of the 2023 biennial budget act, whichever is later.
