Subsection (11) of section 409.1451, Florida 14 Statutes, is renumbered as subsection (12), paragraph (a) of 15 subsection (3) is am ended, and a new subsection (11) is added to 16 that section, to read: 17 409.1451 The Road-to-Independence Program. — 18 (3) AFTERCARE SERVICES. — 19 (a)1. Aftercare services are available to a young adult 20 who has reached 18 years of age but is not yet 23 years o f age 21 who, having been placed by a court pursuant to chapter 39, has 22 lived in out-of-home care for at least 6 months after he or she 23 turned 14 years of age. Not in foster care. 28 b. Temporarily not receiving financial assistance under 29 subsection (2) to pursue postsecondary education. 30 2. Subject to available funding, aftercare services as 31 specified in subparagraph (b)8. are also available to a young 32 adult who is between the ages of 18 and 22, is receiving 33 financial assistance under subsection (2), is experiencing an 34 emergency situation, and whose resources are insufficient to 35 meet the emergency situation. Such assistance shall be in 36 addition to any amount specified in paragraph (2)(b). 37 (11) Notwithstanding the eligibility criteria or 38 availability of services and support under subsections (2) and 39 (3), the department may distribute federal funds to all young 40 adults deemed eligible by the funding source in the event of a 41 state of emergency declared by executive order or proclamation 42 of the Governor pursuant to chapter 252 or the President of the 43 United States. 44 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 45
