2525 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12

2727 Section 1. Section 267.0724, Florida Statutes, is created 14
2828 to read: 15
2929 267.0724 Florida African American Heritage Preservation 16
3030 Network.—As authorized by and consistent with funding 17
3131 appropriated in the General Appropriations Act, the Department 18
3232 of State shall contract, in accordance with the duties of the 19
3333 division under s. 267.071, with the Florida African American 20
3434 Heritage Preservation Network, a nonprofit organization exempt 21
3535 from taxation pursuant to s. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue 22
3636 Code, to preserve Florida Black and African American history and 23
3737 culture. Functions to be provided by the Florida African 24
3838 American Heritage Preservation Network under the contract shall 25

5151 include, but are not limited to, all of the following: 26
5252 (1) Distribution of funding to support member museums and 27
5353 their affiliates and institutions served, and the galleries and 28
5454 archives of such museums, affiliates, and institutions. 29
5555 (2) Support to member museums and their affiliat es in the 30
5656 areas of technology, equipment acquisition, content and exhibit 31
5757 development fabrication and installation, and preservation of 32
5858 documents and artifacts. 33
5959 (3) Provision of professional and resource development 34
6060 services to member museums and their a ffiliates to enhance 35
6161 visitation to and viewership of Florida Black History and 36
6262 African American museums, places, and spaces. Such professional 37
6363 and resource development services shall include conferences, 38
6464 workshops, and training and tourism and marketing ex penditures. 39

6666 Other expenses as determined by the Florida African American 41
6767 Heritage Preservation Network and related to the network's 42
6868 mission are eligible for funding under the contract, including 43
6969 intern expenses, expenses related to field training sessions and 44
7070 virtual communication methods to maintain connectivity among the 45
7171 museums, traveling exhibit expenses, and expenses for living 46
7272 history presentations. 47
7373 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 48
