Relates to paratransit services; directs that an applicant for recertification submit correspondence from a licensed physician in lieu of an in-person assessment.
Permits the commissioner of motor vehicles to require any licensed driver to submit to an examination or reexamination prior to his or her normal renewal date upon receipt of a recommendation from a court having jurisdiction of traffic offenses, or the governor or chief magistrate of a state or territory stating that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle safely is questionable.
Permits the villages of Upper Brookville, Flower Hill, East Hampton, Westbury, Saddle Rock and Southampton located in Nassau and Suffolk county to adopt local laws to implement a demonstration program imposing monetary liability not to exceed fifty dollars on the owner of a vehicle for failure of an operator to comply with stop signs; permits such villages to install and operate stop sign photo violation monitoring systems as part of such demonstration program.
Requires corporations to provide written notice to the municipality in which the canal is located and properties adjacent to such canal prior to commencing work along such canal; requires the corporation to hold a public hearing prior to commencing such work; allows for exceptions in certain situations.
Requires the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, in consultation with the New York city transit authority, the Long Island Rail Road and the Metro-North Commuter Railroad Company, to allow riders travelling within the limits of the city of New York to pay a fare for commuter rail service equal to that of a MetroCard ride and for such riders to make free transfers.
Requires that notice be given to the community boards when there is a change in service furnished upon the rapid transit facilities or the omnibus line facilities of the New York city transit authority.
Prohibits the operation of any motor vehicle equipped with a device which affects the operation of traffic-control signals; provides that the possession of such a device shall constitute a traffic infraction, use thereof is a class A misdemeanor, and use which results in personal injury or death shall constitute a class E felony.
Establishes that the department of motor vehicles shall notify individuals via postal mail or electronic notification that their vehicle inspection is subject to expiration thirty days before such expiration; provides for a five day grace period after the expiration of the vehicle inspection certificate wherein operators of such vehicle shall not be fined.
Requires highway projects that receive state funding to include the assessment and repair of water infrastructure; provides for access to such water infrastructure.
Relates to waiving all additional fees associated with the issuance of an enhanced driver's license if such license is required within thirty days of the issuance or reissuance of a standard driver's license.
