45	46		An Act relating to wildlife; authorizing the
46	47		Department of Wildlife Conservation to produce
47	48		certain study; requiring distribution of report to
48	49		the Legislature and Governor; specifying geographic
49	50		location for study; allowing the Department to use
50	51		certain sources for data; permitting Department to
51	52		enter into certain agreements to assist in data
52	53		collection; allowing for Department to make
53	54		recommendations; providing fo r codification; and

59	60		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
60	61		SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
61	62		in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 3 -316 of Title 29, unless there
62	63		is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
63	64		A. The Department of Wildlife Conservation shall produce an elk
64	65		population study to be presented electronically to the Legislature
65	66		and the Governor within one (1) year of the effective date of this
66	67		act.

94	94		B. The study shall be used to determine Oklahoma ’s elk
95	95		population in southeastern Oklahoma. The study may incorporate
96	96		information available in other sources, such as studies produced by
97	97		collegiate or federal resources, into an analysis of Oklahoma ’s elk
98	98		population. The Department may also enter into agreements with
99	99		other agencies, organizations operating in this state, or tribal
100	100		governments to assist with the production of this study.
101	101		C. The study may include recommendat ions by the Department for
102	102		the conservation of Oklahoma elk populations.
103	103		SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
