4546 An Act relating to wildlife; authorizing the
4647 Department of Wildlife Conservation to produce
4748 certain study; requiring distribution of report to
4849 the Legislature and Governor; specifying geographic
4950 location for study; allowing the Department to use

5152 enter into certain agreements to assist in data

5960 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
6061 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
6162 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 3 -316 of Title 29, unless there
6263 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
6364 A. The Department of Wildlife Conservation shall produce an elk
6465 population study to be presented electronically to the Legislature
6566 and the Governor within one (1) year of the effective date of this
6667 act.

9494 B. The study shall be used to determine Oklahoma ’s elk
9595 population in southeastern Oklahoma. The study may incorporate
9696 information available in other sources, such as studies produced by
9797 collegiate or federal resources, into an analysis of Oklahoma ’s elk
9898 population. The Department may also enter into agreements with
9999 other agencies, organizations operating in this state, or tribal
100100 governments to assist with the production of this study.
101101 C. The study may include recommendat ions by the Department for
102102 the conservation of Oklahoma elk populations.
103103 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
